What's up?

Speaker A:

What's up?

Speaker A:

Angelo Envoy here.

Speaker A:

Welcome to Pure Frequencies podcast.

Speaker A:

I got my brother, Dom Apollo, and he'll be dropping some jewels and some inspirational tools on what it is to be a gospel rapper in today's climate.

Speaker A:

God bless y'all.

Speaker A:

I hope it serves you well.

Speaker A:

And welcome to Pure Frequency.

Speaker A:

Hey, what's up, guys?

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker A:

This is just a really quick question for you.

Speaker A:

Are you saved?

Speaker A:

Do you know that if you were to die tonight, today, whenever you're watching this, that the loving Lord will take you in to his bosom and you will forever be with the Lord?

Speaker A:

If you know that, great, great.

Speaker A:

No problem.

Speaker A:

However, if you just have an inkling and a question.

Speaker A:

If I'm going to make it, am I going to make it?

Speaker A:

Let me make things assured for you.

Speaker A:

One the way and the truth and the life is through Jesus Christ himself.

Speaker A:

He said to accept him and accept the gift of the death, burial, resurrection of himself.

Speaker A:

And by accepting that and walking in his commands, you are saved.

Speaker A:

Remember, in Mark 16, it says to repent and be baptized, right?

Speaker A:

Receive the gift of salvation, be baptized and walk in the commands of God.

Speaker A:

Salvation is for you.

Speaker A:

If you have not done that, all you have to do is call out his name and believe in his death, burial and resurrection for the remission of your sins.

Speaker A:

Be baptized and you shall be saved.

Speaker A:

And I want to tell you something.

Speaker A:

God loves you, okay?

Speaker A:

He loves you no matter where you are, no matter who you are, no matter what you're into, he loves you.

Speaker A:

There is nothing that you can do to separate yourself from God.

Speaker A:

So if you are a Christian, if you are saved and you're doubting your salvation, don't.

Speaker A:

Because nothing can separate you from God.

Speaker A:

Your sin can separate you temporarily.

Speaker A:

They can continue to separate you.

Speaker A:

If you continue in sin, however, God will draw you near.

Speaker A:

Just listen for his voice.

Speaker A:

He says, my sheep hear my voice and they know me.

Speaker A:

And I just want to tell you right now that God is going to bless you.

Speaker A:

God is going to keep you.

Speaker A:

And God is going to uphold you with the right hand of his righteousness.

Speaker A:

And if you believe that, just shout a little comment and say Amen.

Speaker A:

Put amen in the comments, right?

Speaker A:

God bless y'all and enjoy the show.

What's up, brother?

Speaker C:

What up?

Speaker D:

What up?

Speaker C:

What's going on?

Speaker A:

What's happening, baby?

Speaker C:

How you feeling today?

Speaker A:

Feeling great.

Speaker A:

Feeling great.

Speaker C:

Love it.

Speaker C:

Love it.

Speaker A:

So, Dom Apollo, your music has took.

Speaker C:

Quite a turn, right as it has, man, you know?

Speaker C:

Yeah, it's been a little bit of a ride for me.

Speaker A:

Right on, right on.

Speaker C:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

So fill us in.

Speaker A:

What was that little ride and, you know, what took you from the place you were into the place you are now?

Speaker C:

Yeah, man.

Speaker C:

You know, it's amazing working in this space.

Speaker C:

For the time I've been in it, I've seen kind of trends come and go.

Speaker C:

I started out really as being a battle rapper, you know, I mean, in the trenches, you know, grew a love for music and writing through a few inspirations.

Speaker C:

And the journey has really been one of really just finding me, finding who I am, truly.

Speaker C:

You know, I've always been a creative spirit, and I think what happened is coming into music, trying to find a footing, wanting to be pleasing, wanting to be appealing, really took me from a journey of being really in the mainstream, trying to do what's hot, what's trending, what the culture wants.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker C:

And, you know, it never really felt super comfortable for me.

Speaker A:

Right, right, right.

Speaker C:

To be quite honest, no.

Speaker C:

Always been a great creative, always being able to make good works, but it just really didn't set right with me 100% in what I was doing.

Speaker C:

And that's because of the content.

Speaker C:

That's because of, you know, the messages that were being put out there and the intention, you know.

Speaker C:

So, long story short, really took a break from music for a little bit.

Speaker C:

It was just a period of time where I just didn't really feel connected to it anymore.

Speaker C:

And it was a time where I was really questioning, you know, my dedication to the craft, my really just my interest in it anymore, Understanding what the music business entails, the behind the scenes of it all.

Speaker C:

And really, just some things that I just really didn't align with spiritually.

Speaker A:

Right, right.

Speaker A:

You know, so how did that sit with you?

Speaker A:

Like, so you get behind the scenes, you get behind, you know, I guess the culture and the community that you already built up.

Speaker A:

Like, what sort of things didn't sit right?

Speaker C:

Yeah, I mean, interestingly enough, man, you know, getting deeper into the music business side of things, outside of just creating, really opened my eyes to see what it's really like, kind of the things that you have to sacrifice in terms of your morals, your integrity, and really understanding that there's a lot of wickedness.

Speaker A:

Crazy, crazy wickedness, man.

Speaker C:

Crazy wickedness.

Speaker A:

It's a wicked world out here, guys.

Speaker C:

Very wicked world.

Speaker C:

No rest for the wicked.

Speaker C:

And to me personally, it just didn't align with me.

Speaker C:

You know, I'm a father, I'm a family person, always been very moralistic, always had a great deep connection with God.

Speaker C:

And the deeper I got into music, the more, like I said, more wicked, the more, you know, I don't want to use certain words, but I just really saw the dark side of things.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you were, you were in that.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

For lack of a better word, you were in that boat.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

To be able to see the sailors run the ship.

Speaker A:

So you were able to see exactly the enemies.

Speaker C:

Fellowship.

Speaker A:

That's his fellowship.

Speaker C:

I love that you put it that way.

Speaker C:

And that's exactly what it is.

Speaker C:

You know, it became more apparent to me that, you know, the works that I were doing weren't for my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Speaker C:

You know, the works that I was doing, chasing the trends, making appealing music for the mainstream ear just wasn't for God.

Speaker C:

And it was nowhere near, you know, what I aligned with spiritually.

Speaker C:

And for me, it just really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Speaker C:

I mean, it let me in a place where I was having a lot of self doubt, I was having a lot of anxiousness.

Speaker C:

You know, I've turned down, you know, deals, I've turned down, you know, opportunities later on because I just didn't feel like it was really what fit me best, wasn't beneficial, wasn't beneficial to me and my family spiritually.

Speaker C:

Yeah, man, what do you make your God?

Speaker C:

I mean, at the end of the day, you know, when I wake up in the morning, the first thought I have is thankful, amen.

Speaker C:

Thought I have is let me pray for the day.

Speaker C:

You know, I don't wake up and think, let me roll a joint, you know, I don't wake up, you know.

Speaker A:

Yeah, talk about it.

Speaker C:

And, and, and you know, a lot of things can be misconstrued as to what is, you know, you know, okay, spiritually or, or what is good.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker C:

And yeah, I think that's one of the things, you know, I, I've definitely indulged in the world and got deep into those rabbit holes to the point where, again, like I said, that was the lifestyle I was living, that rapper lifestyle, you know, and, and it really came out of that on the other side, through prayer, through, through life experience, through understanding, like, what do I want eternally you know, what do I.

Speaker C:

What type of representation do I want to be for my daughter, for my family, for just.

Speaker C:

Just others?

Speaker A:

Yo, he's spitting facts.

Speaker A:

He spit facts.

Speaker A:

Rock star lifestyle might not make it.

Speaker C:

You know what I mean?

Speaker C:

And they really, truly live that.

Speaker C:

They really believe that.

Speaker C:

You know, a lot of people say, oh, it's just music.

Speaker A:

It's not.

Speaker C:

It's never just music.

Speaker C:

Well, I'm gonna be the first one to tell you that everything is for a reason.

Speaker C:

Everything is intentionally built, it's intentionally curated to serve a purpose, whether good or bad.

Speaker C:

And, you know, at the end of the day, I didn't want to be a part of that dark side, that bad side of things.

Speaker C:

So I took the leap.

Speaker C:

And what I did was I said, God gave me the strength to create freely, to be open with myself, and to be true to myself musically.

Speaker C:

And what I found was it started becoming harder for me to write the clubs.

Speaker C:

It started becoming harder for me to.

Speaker C:

To be okay speaking about certain subjects and using certain words and using certain messages and being happy about what I'm creating.

Speaker C:

And when I realized that, that's when I knew it was time for me to make a change.

Speaker A:

Right, right.

Speaker A:

That's a big step.

Speaker A:

Because, you know, for those of you who aren't artistic or don't have, you know, any kind of entrepreneurship or business or.

Speaker A:

Or if you're not like that minded, I want you to understand something.

Speaker A:

God places something in your heart.

Speaker A:

For those of you who think you are not.

Speaker A:

I want to tell you something, and this might sound a little controversial, but that's a lie.

Speaker A:

You are.

Speaker A:

You are because you are created in the image and likeness of God.

Speaker A:

And God is a creator himself.

Speaker A:

Therefore, you by proxy are a creator.

Speaker A:

You have that within you, the dream that you have inside of you that the Enemy's been telling you for years, don't do the fear, the dismay hits you and makes you feel like you can't do it.

Speaker A:

That's a lie.

Speaker A:

That's a lie.

Speaker A:

You got to take it for from someone who, you know, like Dom Apollo, who.

Speaker A:

Who's been through One side and the Enemy was trying to entice him into that lifestyle.

Speaker A:

But the Lord God never let his hand off of him and let him straight into the glory and let him strain into the glory, which is that of Jesus Christ, and the knowledge of once he received the Holy Spirit, it was on and popping from there.

Speaker A:

You guys need to take this information and listen to my brother because he's about to drop something on somebody.

Speaker A:

I really Feel this right now.

Speaker A:

It just hit me.

Speaker C:

Amen.

Speaker A:

You're gonna give somebody a word.

Speaker A:

I want you to look at that camera right there, and I want you to give somebody a word of encouragement.

Speaker A:

I feel like you got it on you right now, bro.

Speaker C:

Man, you know, you hit the nail on the head at the end of the day.

Speaker C:

I want to say this for a lot of people, a lot of artists out there, especially a lot of, you know, aspiring gospel Christian artists, who think their music is.

Speaker C:

Won't appeal or who thinks whatever they creating from their heart, you know, won't hit the right audience.

Speaker C:

Let me tell you this for sure.

Speaker C:

Never be afraid to be your true, authentic self for a long time.

Speaker C:

To be honest with you, ever since I started making music, I wanted to create music in a gospel sense.

Speaker C:

I doubted myself, and I continue to go with the flow, and I regret all of that time that I put into something that I didn't believe in.

Speaker C:

Always stand true.

Speaker C:

Always stay true to yourself.

Speaker C:

Stay true to the message that Holy Spirit is on you.

Speaker C:

Something is on your heart saying, hey, don't go that way.

Speaker C:

Don't do this.

Speaker C:

Try something new.

Speaker C:

Try something different.

Speaker C:

Let it lead you.

Speaker C:

Don't let anyone's outside influence anyone's, you know, other outside motivations guide you to a place where you don't feel comfortable.

Speaker C:

I'm gonna tell you right now, you put out what you love to put out.

Speaker C:

You put out what comes from your heart.

Speaker C:

There's gonna be a core group of people, a core fan base, a core support group that will stay strong and stay true to you as long as you stay true to that.

Speaker C:

So take that with you as you will.

Speaker C:

But stepping into this journey that I'm on, stepping into this new realm, I feel the most free that I've ever felt in my life.

Speaker C:

And I know that there's a force behind me with this that's undeniable.

Speaker A:

Paula loves so the Lord Jesus Christ raised you up, poured his holy spirit into you.

Speaker A:

You've been walking with him.

Speaker A:

You believe in the precepts.

Speaker A:

You believe in the word of God.

Speaker A:

You believe in the righteous holiness there is when you walk in kingdom culture.

Speaker A:

You're living the kingdom culture.

Speaker A:

You're preaching and speaking and rapping the kingdom culture.

Speaker A:

You're uplifting the kingdom culture.

Speaker A:

And I believe that because of your work and your ministry, it will not only grow, but it was.

Speaker A:

It will flourish, and you will flourish, and God will bless you in this, and I just want to pray over you, and I want to pray this thing out and you know, just join me in the, and the secondary prayer.

Speaker A:

So when I'm done, then you, you pick off and, and, and start praying.

Speaker A:

All right, so Heavenly Father, I just pray that you bless my brother Dom Apollo, Lord God, that you bless his ministry, that you bless Lord God.

Speaker A:

The words that comes out of his mouth, Lord God, that you give him the gift of prophecy, Lord God, to speak enthusiastically, the will of God, Lord God, that you show him the unseen things so he can speak it in the direction of our youth, Lord God, to give them the proper tools they need to survive in kingdom culture, in our climate right now, where there's racism, where there's sexism, where there's, where there's so many different things that they are battling today, Lord God, they just need a sounding following shepherd.

Speaker A:

And I pray that he points his way to the good shepherd and that good shepherd is Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

In Jesus name, Amen.

Speaker C:

Amen.

Speaker C:

Amen, Lord, thank you.

Speaker C:

Thank you Father, for reaching down and pulling me up.

Speaker C:

Thank you for reaching down.

Speaker C:

And for everyone who feels like they're ever lost, for everyone who feels like they don't matter, for anyone who feels like they were forgotten, Lord, you will leave the 99 to find that 1 all the time.

Speaker C:

And Father, we just want to give you a praise.

Speaker C:

You know, a lot of times you don't get the credit that you deserve.

Speaker C:

And the credit is this.

Speaker C:

You are the omega, alpha and omega, and Lord, you are the one that will always shine your light down on those who are left in the dark.

Speaker C:

And you know, at the times that I personally want to say, you are my main mission, to spread your word, to spread your gospel.

Speaker C:

I pray that you just uplift every voice that wants to spread that message, that wants to give their voice and lend their self as a vessel for your light.

Speaker C:

And lend their self as a vessel for your word.

Speaker C:

I pray that you empower them and that you strengthen them, embolden them to go out into this world, to go out into this world that just wants to tear any essence of good down.

Speaker C:

Father, just continue to strengthen and embolden and empower your people to reach the masses, even those who don't want to hear it, so that they may just be that light that shines through the dark, to reach one voice.

Speaker C:

Voice Jesus name.

Speaker A:

Jesus name.

Speaker C:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Speaker A:

Thank you, brother.

Speaker A:

And I believe that we got, we got one last special.

Speaker C:

We do.

Speaker C:

We do.

Speaker C:

You know, I came here today not just to speak with you.

Speaker C:

Speaker C:
